Planning is a vital stage when starting out a certain project. Setting the roadmap for the desired destination is an important preparatory stage in any endeavor.
One of the most important knowledge that I learned during the course or working online is planning before doing the actual journey. I must admit that I had previously overlooked the importance of setting a plan. When I thought of something, I would usually jump right in without the proper preparations. My failures due to this practice helped me learn the importance of formulating a plan.
Why Do We Need to Plan?
Written below are the key reasons why we need to plan. Give time to read and understand the following to help you understand why planning is crucial in attaining your goals.
Planning Sets Direction
The last thing that we want to happen is to find out that we could no longer revert the actions that we made. Poor planning or having no plan at all would usually bring us to situations where we can have no other choice but to start all over again or quit. Remember, we might not live long enough to learn all these things by committing mistakes one after another.
It Helps Saves Time
If there is one thing that we can no longer recover once lost, it is the time. Time is an important factor and this is one of the very reasons why we need to plan.
We are aware that in any endeavor, there are risks involved. However, by creating plans, we can somehow reduce or completely eliminate the risk and achieve the goal we expect.
We may lose the investment, the time and the expected profit when we failed to formulate a clear plan.
We Are In Control
You know when to do the next move. Everything has been set for a definite time. Everything will fall in the right place.
We Know What to Expect
There is no time for guesswork. We know what will come up next and we can formulate the next step ahead of time.
It Reduces Stress
If we are uncertain of the end result, we come to a point of overthinking which can cause too much stress and anxiety. However, with proper planning, we can be assured of success, thus, we can enjoy life while executing the plan.
Steps in Planning
Here are the steps in planning that we should be aware of.
1. Setting a Vision
Vision refers to our dreams. Under what condition do we see yourself at a given time? Do you see yourself having a 6-figure income after 1 year, 5 years? As I mentioned above, the time has a limit.
2. Know What Tasks Are Needed
How are we going to achieve the vision? What are the things to be done? Knowing the tasks that we need to perform should be included in the plan. Do we need to outsource the tasks or employ additional strategies?
3. Determine the Required Resources
We need to invest. Just like any business, we need to invest time, effort, money and skills. Determining those needed things should be done
4. Set a timeline
We have to set a deadline for every task that we identified. A considerable amount of time should be set in order to achieve a great result.
5. Know What Monitoring Tools to be Used
How are we going to monitor our achievement is an important factor in planning. Since we identified the process and we know what to expect, we can set a monitoring scheme in order to set a barometer so as to assess if we are on the right track.
6. Setting an Alternative
Having a Plan B is a vital thing in planning. If something unexpected happens, we can divert to our alternative plan.
7. Review and Finalization
Review and finalization of our plan are necessary before the execution. We have to recheck and adjust if necessary.
This is the time of the actual implementation of the plan. Whether you are alone or working with a group, having a clear plan will help you complete the desired work in time.
To sum it up…
One of the main ingredients of success is proper planning. Once we set up a clear direction, we are most likely to achieve our dreams in no time.
